About Us: How We Build This Directory
AcceptsMedicaid.com is a free directory of US doctors, dentists, clinics and care facilities that accept Medicaid, plus plain-language guides to what Medicaid covers. We are not a government site, a state Medicaid agency or an insurance plan, and we don’t book appointments. Use our lists as a starting point, then call the office before you go.
What you’ll find here
- 13 provider directories: dentists, orthodontists, eye doctors, dermatologists, podiatrists, neurologists, ENT doctors, OB-GYNs, therapists, urgent care, clinics, assisted living and nursing homes.
- Coverage guides that answer “does Medicaid cover this?” for adult dental, eye exams and glasses, dermatology, podiatry, neurologist visits and therapy.
Who we list
We only list places that deliver care: practices, clinics, hospital departments and care facilities. We don’t list Medicaid health plans, state agencies or booking and review websites, because none of them will see you as a patient. If you spot one on a list, please tell us and we’ll remove it.
How we sort listings by state and city
- Every listing is tagged with the state or states where the provider has offices, based on the provider’s own website. Pick your state at the top of any directory to see only those listings.
- Chains and online services that work in many states show up under every state.
- We show a city only when the provider’s own website or listing names it. We never guess a location.
- Some states have only a few listings. When that happens, we link your state’s official Medicaid provider search, which lists every enrolled provider and lets you search by specialty and ZIP code.
What “accepts Medicaid” means here
A listing is a starting point, not a guarantee. Whether an office takes your Medicaid depends on your state, your Medicaid plan and that location, and it can change. Before you go, call and ask two things: “Do you take my Medicaid plan?” (say the plan name on your card) and “Are you taking new Medicaid patients?”
Your Medicaid plan’s own provider directory, or your state’s Medicaid provider search, is the complete list for your area. Our lists are shorter and easier to scan, but they will never be complete.
Where our coverage facts come from
Our coverage guides are based on official and expert sources: Medicaid.gov and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), MACPAC (the commission that advises Congress on Medicaid) and KFF. Where the rules differ, we separate what Medicaid must cover for everyone under 21 (a federal guarantee called EPSDT) from what each state chooses to cover for adults. Every page shows the date it was last updated.
Nothing on this site is medical or legal advice. Your state Medicaid agency and your plan have the final word on what is covered for you. See our disclaimer.
Found a mistake? Tell us
Every page has a “Report a problem” link, and you can also use our contact form. We read every report. Reader reports have already changed the site: after readers told us they couldn’t find providers in their state, we added the state picker (October 2026). After a reader found only two podiatrists in their state, we added the link to each state’s official search and started showing city names on listings (October 2026).
How the site is paid for
